Off Topic: Amazon.com trade in deals and Bigwords.com

Okay, if you're in college, or were in collge, than you know what's it's like to drop the soap in a prison shower. That's excatly the feeling you get from major texbook manufactuars, and I don't care what their excuse is. The obsene cost of books and the gratious increase of tuition from year to year is something often touched on by econonomists, and what they have to say is interesting. Untill something is done (nothing will be done though...), I thought I'd share things that I found helpful in easing the pain.

First, there's BIGWORDS.com. Bigwords is where I first started selling my bookis, as with the Uber-Marketplace you can easily find out where your books will sell for more. Likewise, this is where I go at the beginning of the semester to find the cheapest books to buy. On the downside though, books in some obscure sites I've posted on just haven't seemed to sell pretty much at all and you have to keep an eye out when you buy books as they may only be rentals.

After I figured out that most of my books were selling on Amazon.com faster than any other site, I would post there while still keeping an eye out on the prices using Bigwords. This year though, I was suprised to learn about their Trade In program. What this program does is it allows a third party to buy your books (as long as they are in amazing condition still and have all of the CDs and things that came with it) and then Amazon will give you a gift card. While an Amazon gift card may not be as exciting as acctuall cash or a deposit into your account, I decided to bypass this and even take about a twenty dollar hit when selling some books to get enough credit for an eReader. Color me past excited! They also allow games and DVDs, and shipping to Amazon is free!!! Booyah! I shall keep you updated in case anything goes wrong, or in case I am even more satisfied with this service.
