Beta: Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight

Having been a huge fan of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, I was super excited for Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight; and to be honest, I was even a little excited for Tiberium, the first person shooter that was announced and cancelled back in 2008. The thing is, C&C4 is nothing like my beloved C&C3. Electronic Arts took away what I believe to be an integral part of the C&C series, harvesting Tiberium. Sure, Tiberium makes an appearance, but it’s not exactly something I feel I need to fight to the death for. Also, I loved building a base; and even if you could see how angry I was when they took away the ability for cranes to also build defenses you would still have no idea how saddened I am they stripped the whole idea of a base from C&C4. The new battle mechanics focus around using these big crawling machines, reminiscent of the old MCVs, where you build all of your units (now with unit caps!) while trying to capture nodes to build up points. While this is a very interesting new take for C&C to take, it’s just not for me. Also, I was disappointed they didn’t have the Scrin as a playable race (it’s only GDI and Nod now) as they were always my favorite. If you love capture the flag and always thought that was the way Command and Conquer should have been, then by all means, play this game. If you are a fan of the classic Command and Conquer model, I really don’t recommend it.

Beta Judgment: 5 I’d rather lan C&C3 instead’s out of 10
